Purpose: This website provides measurements obtained by the Rice Networks Group, which characterize the TFA network : an operational, large-scale, wireless network in Houston, TX. Researchers can make use of the provided measurements in order to: i) conduct novel research and ii) evaluate their algorithms under realistic simulation scenarios, for a wide range of topics in wireless networking.

The TFA Network
TFA Network : The TFA network is an operational, large-scale, wireless multi-hop network of multi-tier architecture. Since September 2004, it has been deployed in Southeast Houston, TX by Rice University in conjunction with the non-profit organization Technology For All (TFA), in order to provide wireless access to under-resourced communities. As of June 2008, it consists of 18 wireless nodes that provide coverage to an area of 3 km2 and it is still under expansion. So far, it has provided service to more than 4000 users.
Measurements: Measurements obtained by the Rice Networks Group that characterize the TFA Network can be found here. This page is scheduled to be gradually enhanced with additional measurements, as the Rice Networks Group is actively performing research related to the TFA network.
